What you need
Ingredients
Making for
5 servings
- Bananas0.5 each
- Frozen mixed berries1 cup
- Baby spinach1 cup
- Milk1 cup
- Plain Greek yogurt0.5 cup
- Chia seeds1 tbsp
Quantities scale linearly with servings. Round to the nearest practical amount when shopping.
Steps
- 1
Five bags, same thing in each
Into every bag: half a frozen banana, one cup of frozen fruit, a handful of spinach, and a tablespoon of whatever seed you use. Line them up and fill them assembly-line rather than one at a time.
- 2
No liquid and no yogurt in the bag
Milk and yogurt go in at blending time. Frozen into the bag they become a solid brick the blender cannot start on, and yogurt separates on thawing.
- 3
Flatten the bags before freezing
Press the air out and lay them flat. They stack, they thaw evenly, and they fit in a normal freezer instead of taking a shelf.
- 4
On the day: bag, milk, yogurt, blend
Tip a bag in, add a cup of milk and half a cup of Greek yogurt, blend 45 seconds. Ninety seconds from freezer to glass, which is what makes it happen on a Tuesday.

Coach's notes
- This is the highest-leverage fifteen minutes in the week. Five breakfasts that otherwise get skipped.
- Any of the smoothie recipes here can be packed this way. Keep the liquid and the dairy out of the bag.
- Label the bags if you make different ones, because frozen fruit all looks the same at 6am.
- Frozen fruit is cheaper than fresh and better here, since you want it frozen anyway.
