Green machine smoothie

When breakfast needs to disguise the vegetables. The mango covers everything.

  • Baby spinach2 cup
  • Frozen mango chunks1 cup
  • Milk1 cup
  • Plain Greek yogurt0.5 cup
  • Hemp hearts1 tbsp

Quantities scale linearly with servings. Round to the nearest practical amount when shopping.

    Layer the blender

    Add ingredients in this order: 1 cup milk first (so the blade can spin), then 2 handfuls baby spinach, 1 frozen banana, 1 cup frozen mango chunks, ½ cup plain Greek yogurt, 1 tbsp hemp hearts.

    Blend until the green disappears

    Blend on high for 60 seconds until completely smooth and uniformly green-yellow. If you see any spinach flecks, blend another 20 seconds.

    Pour and drink

    Pour and drink immediately. The color is best within the first minute.

Coach's notes

  • Two cups of raw spinach = 2 grams of iron + tons of vitamin K. They will not taste it.
  • Hemp hearts add 3 grams of plant protein and omega-3s. Skip if you don't have them.
  • Frozen mango is the texture trick. Fresh mango makes it watery.
